Dupuytren’s Contracture

A progressive condition affecting the connective tissue that lies beneath your palm, Dupuytren’s contracture can eventually lead to complete loss of mobility in your hand. The debilitating condition often begins with a small lump in your palm, with the progressive formation of rope-like cords throughout your hand, which cause contractures and prevent you from opening your fingers and placing your hand flat.

Minimally invasive treatment methods, such as needle aponeurotomy, may be helpful in reducing pain and debilitation caused by Dupuytren’s contracture, but if unsuccessful in relieving your pain, your doctor may recommend a fasciectomy surgery.
