Massage Therapy

The massage therapy services at Sierra Pacific Orthopedics use advanced reflexology, relaxation, therapeutic, and sports massage techniques to relax muscles, provide pain relief, restore metabolic balance, and provide several additional physical and mental benefits for patients.

While exercise provides healthy stress by elevating the heart rate, increasing blood flow to the skin, injecting tissues with oxygen, and increasing the size and efficiency of the heart and lungs, it can also put excess strain and stress on the muscle tissues and cause injury to tendons and ligaments when stretched beyond normal bounds. Through massage therapy, our certified massage therapist is able to stimulate circulation, increase lymphatic flow, and break up fibrosis within your muscles, relaxing muscle spasms and relieving pain while helping to improve athletic performance and prevent injury.

Massage therapy can also provide several benefits to patients who have suffered an injury or undergone an orthopedic procedure. Since massage therapists have a comprehensive understanding of the relationships between all the joints and muscles of the body and how each joint influences recovery from an injury or surgical procedure, massage therapists are able to use specific techniques to achieve improved circulation, improved flexibility and range of motion, and decreased scar tissue, resulting in quicker recoveries.

Through massage therapy, our specialist is able to identify problem areas before they become injuries. Massage therapy is beneficial in preventing and treating common injuries, such as:

  • Muscle pulls
  • Muscle strains
  • Muscle spasms
  • Ankle sprains
  • Shin splints
  • Tennis elbow
  • Runner’s knee
  • Lower back pain
