“I went in for shoulder pain and loss of motion. I have been going to physical therapy and today to see the doctor. EVERYTHING is positive including my improvement. The staff at the doctor's office, staff at physical therapy, everyone has made this awful injury easier for me to deal with. “I was on vacation in Europe and I slipped on the street and cracked my ankle in 2 locations. I saw the doctor on the ship and he set my ankle in a temporary cast. I purchased a boot in Barcelona the next day and began contacting Sierra Pacific Orthopedics through the Internet. The next day I had an appointment for the following Monday. Needless to say the flight home was miserable. My flight was cancelled and had to spend an extra night then get rerouted across Europe and the U.S. to get home. The flights were booked solid and I could not upgrade. Dr. Dunklin saw me immediately. I have never had to wait long for my appointments and Dr. Dunklin is wonderful. “As of this date, I'm very happy with my doctors. Before coming to SPOC, I could hardly walk because my knees were so bad. I saw Dr. Dunklin and he did the complete knee replacement on both knees a year apart. Now I've got complete freedom in going where I want and being able to walk and climb stairs. I haven't mastered the art of running yet, but I will. Dr. Johnson was great when I had a cyst on my finger. He got rid of it in one visit. Dr. Monetelone—what can I say? I love him. “Dr. Watson gave me my life back almost six years ago when he put an X-Stop in my back. It relieved my intense pain and restored my ability to be active again. I have been able to reduce my weight over 50 lbs and vastly improve my overall health. "Dr. Dunklin recently repaired my left knee. I had torn meniscus and a cyst under my knee cap. I was experiencing a lot of pain. Since my surgery I am much improved and hopefully the rest of the swelling will continue to subside and my range of motion will be normal again. “I am a very active 60-year-old woman who, with my husband Mark, works out six days a week and hikes whenever we can get away. So when a shoulder injury last year put a damper on my activities, I was not too happy. Thinking it would heal quickly, I let it go for a few months. The shoulder pain only worsened, until I lost almost all range of motion. After begging my regular doctor for an MRI, he finally sent me to Sierra Pacific Orthopedics where I met with Dr. Dunklin. The MRI report came back as frozen shoulder. I had never heard of that before, but that fit my symptoms well. Through physical therapy and lots of home exercises, I am almost back to normal. “I have had the pleasure of being treated by Dr. Dunklin, Dr. Ghazal, Dr. Johnson, Dr. Hanson, and Dr. Glaser for fractures in various places. My surgeries included two for a torn meniscus, one external fixator for fracture of arm and wrist. Six months ago, I fractured my ankle and foot, which meant spending three months in a boot. Two weeks ago, I fractured my fibula, ankle and foot again. I am going to undergo a complete shoulder replacement as soon as I recover. I am eighty-four years old and trip a lot. All of the treatment and surgeries have been such a pleasant experience by caring and sensitive physicians. The surgery wing is the best. They have kind and gentle nurses with lovely surroundings that made my stay enjoyable. I sent candy to the staff after my surgery because they were so special. “A seemingly non-serious twist of my right knee last winter as I ambled along turned out to be painful each time I exercised. Touring the USA during the Summer was awful, with all the walking required at major league baseball parks, New York City and Washington D.C., but I just kept going. Upon return from vacation, it was time to call in the first people I could think of for help, the doctors at Sierra Pacific Orthopedics. I was booked for an appointment with Dr. Dunklin, and within days, was starting the steps to diagnose the source of the pain and inflammation. I had arthroscopic surgery to remove debris causing the trouble, with minimal inconvenience and prompt follow-up to make sure the treatment was working. It was the right move for me, since I am back on a fairly demanding workout schedule for someone my age (61), with good direction from Dr. Dunklin on just how much "my new knee" will do for me. Special appreciation to Marti and the other staff members who know how to handle the concerns of someone who is not accustomed to medical and hospital environments. “Dr. Dunklin determined what was wrong, 5 months after the event. His expertise was the key to a correct diagnosis. I had had a different diagnosis and wasn't comfortable with it and wanted to get a second opinion. Actually I wanted a common diagnosis from two different sources. Dr. Dunklin did not know there had been a previous and different diagnosis. I knew his diagnosis was the correct one, by the way he presented all the possible options and what his opinion was. He was right and the whole organization is very professional, on time and considerate. I would say, if you have an orthopedic problem start here.”
