My Comeback Story: Mark G.
On April 22, 2023, I was in Florida to attend my niece’s wedding. On the day of the wedding, I fell down my sister’s stairs, cartwheeling down 11 steps and blasting through a thick wooden gate. I tried to walk it off, but my left arm hurt and wasn't sure if I had broken a bone. I didn't want to bother the ladies getting ready for the wedding, so I drove myself to the nearest hospital. They took x-rays and there was no break. I asked for a sling and went back to get ready for the wedding. I then spent the next 10 months struggling to use my left arm. I was not able to use it during any type of drive through activity.
I went to my family doctor, and I was then referred to Sierra Pacific. I made an appointment with Dr Hendy. After the testing was done, it was discovered that I had 4 ligaments torn. Two completely. Dr Hendy told me that because I had waited almost a year that the repair would be more extensive and I would need donor ligaments. I then had my surgery one year and a day after my injury, April 23, 2024.
I had a great experience with the doctor, his staff as well as the surgery center staff. I was blessed with minimal pain. No higher than a 4 on the scale. Sleeping in the funky brace for 6 weeks was the toughest part of the process. Starting physical therapy was tough but I was ready to try to get back to as close to normal as possible. When I started, I could not lift a 1lb dumbbell over my head. But after a little over a year after surgery I can now lift a 15lb dumbbell and I’m continuing to improve. I’ve been blessed to be able to be more active at the gym and working on projects at the house. I was swimming with my Pastor and told him to watch this testimony that I wanted to show him. I then showed him that I could do the overhead stroke which I did not believe I would ever do again.
Thank you, Doctor Hendy, and everyone for the experience, encouragement, and support.
