There are many ways to understand and practice yoga. Here at Sierra Pacific Orthopedics, we offer medical yoga. Our anatomy-informed classes, overseen by Dr. Gopi Kasturi, focus on improving strength, flexibility, and managing pain. With a gentle, preventative approach, we provide a safe and supportive environment for adults with pain or fear of traditional exercise. Class Descriptions

Gentle Chair Yoga: Perfect for beginners or those returning to exercise with pain and fragility. This class focuses on basic movements, muscle activation, and breathwork with a low heart rate. It includes intermittent breaks and gentle stretching. Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m.

Chair Yoga: This class expands on Gentle Chair Yoga with larger movements, deeper stretches, and some standing and balance postures. It provides a mild cardiovascular workout with a slightly higher heart rate and fewer breaks. Classes are held on Mondays at 10 a.m. and Thursdays at 5 p.m.

Advanced Chair Yoga: Includes sequences that link poses with breath to build endurance and increase heart rate. It features advanced chair poses, some performed without the chair, with modifications for individual needs. Classes are held on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. and Fridays at 10 a.m.

Gentle Mat Yoga: Focuses on core, back, and leg strengthening, full-body mobility, and flexibility using gentle movements. Suitable for those transitioning from chair yoga to mat practice, it emphasizes a slow and mindful approach to movement. Classes are held on Tuesdays and Fridays at 5 p.m.

Mat Yoga: Our most advanced class, comparable to public yoga studio sessions. It emphasizes comprehensive core strengthening, enhanced flexibility, and endurance through more challenging poses and sequences. The class includes a variety of poses that test and improve balance, strength, and overall fitness. Classes are held on Mondays at 5 p.m. and Wednesdays at 10 a.m.
